Umbra 3 Gold? Season 4 Balance Updates | Muhlort Auto Chess
After her debut in season 4, Umbra became
one of the more favored chess pieces . This powerful 2-cost Egersis Dragon had finally
made former meme-builds like 6 Hunters viable. The Legendary Egersis Prophet had been removed
from the chess pool, and Umbra provided a cheaper way to complete builds with the 4
Egersis synergy that debuffs the enemy team’s armor by minus 10.
An accessible 4-Egersis build also meant something else. The Legendary piece Devastator had become
a staple accessory to end-game compositions. This unit was traditionally used as an end-game
win condition for Goblin lineups. Most people were aware about the Devastator
ulti’s burst damage, but it’s important to note that this ult does physical AOE damage.
Paired with the ease of access of the 4 Egersis debuff, it really gave Devastator its chance
to shine. But what did this mean for some of the compositions
that used to dominate lobbies, like knights and feathered?
At first, people were really bored of knights because of the lack of flexibility in the
build. The standard build used to be 4 Knights with 4 Glacier. It took a while, but people
are slowly starting to make more creative variations of Knights that actively involve
Dragons and Egersis. Now let’s talk about Feather compositions.
While assassins are still a viable Top 3 composition, the prevalence of mages and the new items
have really put them in a tough spot. Thoughtful itemization became more important, and it
seems that Abyssal Crawler became the new favorite carry over Shadow Crawler. Shadow
Crawler’s heavy reliance on Frantic Mask, as well as being more prone to getting disarmed,
coupled with the lackluster Feather synergy, had dethroned our once favored assassin carry.
The Feathered variant of Hunter is just the poor alternative compared to the other Hunter
variations. Builds that focus on the Feather evasion are considered novelty builds nowadays,
because they are easily out-scaled in the late game.
So here are the future balance updates for chess pieces:
UMBRA now costs 3 gold instead of 2. Her HP is raised from 700/1400/2800 to 800/1600/3200.
DEVASTATOR ult is nerfed from 600/1000/1400 to 500/800/1100
(6) FEATHERED has been buffed from 35% to 40%
(4) EGERSIS has been nerfed from -10 enemy armor to -8 enemy armor
(3) and (6) ASSASSINS have a change to the synergy bonus: their first base attacks during
the round will be a critical strike ITEMS
The item system has vastly improved since season 3, they got rid of items like Ring
of Life and changed the rarity levels of some components. The item recipes have allowed
for more thoughtful item combination use, and more players have to consider the lobby
before combining the items, rather than insta-combining. That being said, some early game common item
combinations have become very popular. The Cloud Halberd, which only needs a Lucky Coin
and Life Crystal, was recently nerfed from a 5 second to 3 second disarm. Pulse staff,
a staple item for mage builds, basically had a free Laguna Blade ult early game, because
it dealt 400 magical damage. It would be strong during the early game, and then fall off late
game. The next patch includes a few item balance
adjustments. PULSE STAFF TIER 1 will now deal percent damage
instead of flat damage. It will be (10% of target’s max HP + 200 magical damage)
PULSE STAFF TIER 2 will now deal (10% of target’s max HP + 300 magical damage)
PYTHON WAND, will now be buffed from 3 seconds of skill immunity to 4 seconds
INFUSED MASK looks like it’s getting a big nerf, from 40% lifesteal to 15% lifesteal.
It used to be a staple against Goblin builds and against Abyssal Crawler carries, where
they would lose the ability to heal for 5 seconds. The effect will be changed from that
to debuffing the enemy with -8 armor reduction against base attacks for 5 seconds.
HALBERD OF JUDGEMENT now increases Max HP by 800 instead of 250, and the target no longer
gets -15 armor reduction against base attacks NEW ITEM COMBINATIONS
Frantic Mask + Wraith Shard=Infused Mask Python Wand + Ghost Blade=Claw Wand
Cloud Halberd + Dragon Blood Axe=Halberd of Judgement Okay, that’s all for now. See ya.
